Willow Bank Infant School celebrates prestigious OPAL Platinum Award

Orchard Learning Alliance is very proud to share the fantastic news that Willow Bank Infant School has achieved the prestigious OPAL Platinum Award, recognising the school’s outstanding approach to outdoor play and learning.

The award is the highest level of recognition within the Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) programme and celebrates schools that demonstrate a strong commitment to providing children with high-quality, engaging and inclusive play opportunities.

At Willow Bank Infants, play is an important part of school life. The school has worked hard to create an environment where children can explore, be creative, take risks, build relationships and develop their confidence through play. Its approach has helped create an “inspiring and joyful” environment for pupils.

The achievement reflects the dedication of the whole Willow Bank community. Staff, pupils, families and governors have all played a part in developing the school’s approach and creating opportunities for children to make the most of their playtimes.

The Platinum Award recognises not only the environment that Willow Bank Infants has created, but also the thought and commitment behind it. By giving children greater opportunities to lead their own play, be active and explore their interests, the school is helping to make play a meaningful and valuable part of every school day.
