About the School

Willow Bank Junior School is a two-form entry school in the heart of the community in Woodley. The school aims to teach a rich and varied curriculum that engages all pupils, fills them with awe and wonder, and inspires them to aim high.

The school's goal is to equip pupils with the knowledge and skills they need for the next stage of their education and for wider life. Willow Bank wants children to know their place as citizens of the world, with social responsibility and a drive for equity. Pupils are encouraged to recognise their strengths, embrace challenge, take risks as learners and develop the resilience to keep going when things do not fall into place straight away.

Diversity is welcomed and celebrated, and the school values both the things people have in common and the qualities that make each individual unique. Kindness, compassion and respect are modelled throughout school life, helping to create a community where everyone feels valued and included.

Curiosity is encouraged and positive habits for lifelong learning are developed from an early age. Alongside academic achievement, the school places importance on happiness, friendship, family and community, recognising the important role they play in helping children flourish.

Why we joined the OLA

Joining the Orchard Learning Alliance allows Willow Bank Junior School to work in collaboration with other like-minded schools to promote the best possible outcomes for all children.

The school is able to retain the qualities that make it uniquely Willow Bank while also contributing to, and benefiting from, the values, expertise and collective strength of the Orchard Learning Alliance family. Through collaboration and the sharing of effective practice, staff can continue to learn from one another while ensuring the very best opportunities for pupils.
